The Spanish artist Jorge Bengio was born in Malaga in 1987 and has grown up hand in hand with the pictorial arts. His grandfather, who was an architect, musician and painter, set him in front of the easel when he was just 5 years old. Shortly after, at the beginning of his adolescence, Jorge started attending painting classes. However, other interests led him to leave the lessons. It was not until his time in university that this passion came back to him, and his enthusiasm for drawing and the brushes returned. This time to stay. His paintings are based primarily on capturing the essence of the human being with a very personal and unique style, which he reached after years of work. His inspiration mainly comes from two anthropological sources; one is the human response to classical themes such as love, hate, anger, passion ... and the other is his own sense of wonder, which he tries to respond to by different shapes. He has always been strongly attracted to Modigliani paintings, with whom he shares the importance of the gaze and which is the backbone of all his frames. As well as the female figure and all the mystery that has always surrounded her. “In my painting I seek the concept of beauty and most of the time I do it through women, because I believe that woman and beauty are synonymous, and they both have always gone side by side throughout the history of art. I try to find that balance between beauty, passion and tragedy in all my paintings.”
